Warhawks advance to regional championship

WHITEWATER (WKOW) - The UW-Whitewater baseball team is one win away from the NCAA Division III World Series. The Warhawks scored four runs late to top Adrian 6-2 on Friday. UW-Whitewater advances to the regional championship game on Saturday at noon.

UW-Whitewater broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth inning with a Mike Mierow RBI single to left. Mikole Pierce added an insurance run in the seventh inning with a RBI single up the middle. Jared Fon then added a two-run single through the right side for the final runs of the game. Curtis Morgan picked up the win by allowed just two runs on six hits.

The Warhawks will have two chances to win the championship on Saturday. If they should lose the first game, a decisive second game will be played at 3 p.m. UW-Whitewater is looking to advance to the World Series for the sixth time in school history.
