Groy, O'Neill complete rookie camp with Chicago Bears

LAKE FOREST, IL -- Former Badgers Ryan Groy and Conor O'Neill were a couple hours southeast of Madison, participating in the Chicago Bears rookie camp over the weekend. Groy was an undrafted free agent, who signed a rookie contract with the Bears following last weekend's NFL Draft. O'Neill was invited as a tryout prospect for the Bears rookie camp. During the three practice days, Groy worked at right guard and left guard on the offensive line, while O'Neill was playing outside linebacker. Putting on an NFL helmet for the first time can be overwhelming for any rookie, but having a familiar face around was helpful for both Badgers.

"You have a level of comfort because you know someone here," O'Neill said of Groy also being at camp.
"After spending three plus days with these guys you form some bonds, but Ryan and I, we met way back when so we have a long connection."

"It makes it more comfortable," Groy said.
"We can talk about the stuff we did way back in the day and how hard practices were back then, but its been a great experience and I wouldn't take it back for anything."
