Historic site to offer wild west fest

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (AP) -- A southwestern Wisconsin historical site is planning a steampunk-inspired wild west festival this weekend.

The festival will begin on Friday night and run through Sunday in Stonefield, a replica 19-th century rural village near Cassville that includes former Wisconsin Governor Nelson Dewey's mansion.

The itinerary includes a hootenanny, a square dance, Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, a grand ball, a poker tournament, quilting demonstrations, a horse exposition, a steampunk fashion show, a panel discussion on steampunk's history, and a re-enactment of the gunfight at the OK Corral.

Steampunk is a literary science fiction subgenre that features advanced machines based on 19th-century technology.
