Suspect in Beloit reckless homicide arrested

Posted: Updated:
BELOIT (WKOW) -- A suspect in a reckless homicide incident earlier this month has now been discharged from the hospital, and immediately arrested.

Christopher Rutherford, 40, was placed under arrest for 1st degree reckless homicide, felony fleeing resulting in death and an arrest warrant.  Rutherford was taken directly to the Rock County Jail.  It is expected he'll make his initial court appearance Wednesday.

The evening of May 11, 47-year-old Sheila Rosenbaum called in a complaint of an unwanted person, Rutherford.  When police attempted to arrest Rutherford, he ran from them, hopped into a van and struck Rosenbaum as he fled.  Rosenbaum was taken to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

The investigation into her death continues.
