GEF-1 workers may lose money because of fire

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- Some state employees may lose out on hundreds of dollars after a fire at their downtown office building.

The Wisconsin State Journal reports managers told employees of the GEF-1 building they must use their vacation time or go without pay until new office space can be found.

The Department of Administration told the newspaper they'd offer another solution that would allow some workers to make up work time without eating up vacation or taking unpaid leave.

Many employees have been working remotely since the fire that happened on May 16th, but some say they cannot.
