Beloit Memorial High School student in custody after taking gun to school

Posted: Updated:
BELOIT (WKOW) -- A Beloit Memorial High School student is in custody after taking a gun to school.

Police officials were following up on a complaint that a 15-year-old male student was making threats. On Friday a semi-automatic handgun was found in his possession.

Beloit school district spokeswoman Melissa Badger says the threats were not school-related and were aimed at someone outside the district.

The student was taken into custody without incident. Investigation revealed that the handgun had been reported stolen from a west side residence in Beloit. The juvenile is being held in secure detention and will be in court early next week.
