MADISON (WKOW) -- The annual Brat Fest continues Sunday as organizers strive to break their own world record of brats sold in Madison.

The event, deemed the World's Largest Brat Fest, raises money for a number of local charities by selling brats. It also is a celebration of Memorial Day weekend with music and a carnival at Willow Island.

On Sunday night, Brat Fest ends with a fireworks show starting at 9:05 p.m. Monday, visitors can join in honoring veterans and military service members during a special tribute ceremony at 11:45 a.m.

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mary Burke joined dozens of other volunteers serving up brats for a good cause Sunday.

As of close Saturday night, more than 97,000 brats were sold since the start of the 2014 Brat Fest on Friday. Organizers hope to break their record set in 2010 at nearly 210,000 brats.
