Posted: Updated:
UNION GROVE (WKOW) -- Gov. Scott Walker joined veterans and their families for a ceremony in their honor Sunday.

The Memorial Day ceremony in Union Grove recognized current and former members of the military.

The governor told the crowd Memorial Day is an opportunity to show gratitude for one fundamental right here in Wisconsin and the U.S.

"Freedom. Endowed by our creator. Defined by our constitution, and defended each and every day by the men and women who proudly wear the uniform of these United States," says Gov. Walker.

The governor is scheduled to appear at two Memorial Day ceremonies Monday. He'll be at Wood Cemetery in Milwaukee at 9:30 a.m. and attend a Fallen Warrior Memorial Ceremony at 3 p.m. at Golf Company HTC's outdoor memorial on Manufacturers Drive in Madison.
