Police: Conversation over Bret Michaels leads to "violent episode" at McFarland restaurant

Posted: Updated:
MCFARLAND (WKOW) -- Police say a conversation about Poison lead singer Bret Michaels led to one man's violent episode at a Culver's restaurant in McFarland.

It all started around 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the restaurant on Farwell Street. Police say a 22-year-old man who is developmentally challenged overheard a conversation about the rock star, which led him to tear down a banner, tip over a newspaper bin and attack and/or chase people in the parking lot.

When police officers arrived, they say the man threw a large landscaping stone toward them, hitting their squad car.

At that point, one officer used a Taser on the man and he was taken into custody.

Police worked with the man's family and caregivers to safely return him to his group home.

No one was hurt.

There was some minor damage to two vehicles, property and one man had his shirt torn.
