Brat Fest raises record amount for local charities

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- Organizers have raised more money than ever for local charities at this year's Brat Fest.

Brat Fest leaders estimate they've raise about $140,000 during the annual Memorial Day weekend festival. That's well over last year's total around $117,000.

165,870 brats were sold at the 2014 event. That's shy of the festival's record at 209,000 brats sold in 2010 but about 10,000 more than in 2013.

Brat Fest is deemed by organizers as the world's largest brat festival. 3,400 volunteers participated in the 2014 event held at Willow Island.
