MADISON (WKOW)-- Earlier this year 27 News shared the story of Madison car detailer Ryan Edgren, who earned a free trip to the Indy 500 after winning a national contest called "Love the Car Care Business." He shared a brief story of his shear devotion to the automotive industry and won an all expenses paid trip to this year's historic race.
Edgren was able to see firsthand what it takes to organize the Indy 500. He watched drivers and crew members set up and test out their cars and even got to visit the pit.
Edgren also witnessed history being made as renowned NASCAR driver Kurt Busch finished 6th in the Indy 500 and became the 2014 Rookie of the Year. This year's race was won by Ryan Hunter-Reay who won by only 0.600 seconds. It was the 2nd closest victory in the race's 98-year history.
Edgren sent 27 News a few pictures from his trip to the Indy 500. For the full story that originally aired on March 8th 2014, click here.
