Wis. Club for Growth to oppose prosecutor request

Posted: Updated:
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The attorney for a conservative group being investigated along with Gov. Scott Walker's recall campaign says he intends to object to the lead prosecutor's request for clarity in a court order.
Wisconsin Club for Growth attorney David Rivkin said the group will file a motion Thursday objecting to the request from lead investigator Francis Schmitz for the judge to clarify the scope of a preliminary injunction halting the probe.
Schmitz filed that motion late Wednesday with U.S. District Judge Rudolph Randa. Schmitz asked for clarification on whether the preliminary injunction covered his discussions with attorneys for targets of the probe.
A person close to the investigation told The Associated Press on Wednesday that Schmitz is talking with Walker about a possible settlement that would end the probe.
