Madison East student injured after colliding with bus

Posted: Updated:

MADISON (WKOW) -- A 16-year-old Madison East High School student was injured Thursday afternoon.

The student was skateboarding in the roadway when part of his body was run over by a Head Start school bus.  The teen's injuries appear to be non-life threatening.

Madison police say it is unclear how the student collided with the bus.  The driver reported hearing a thud and then stopped on N. Fourth Street.

Preliminary investigation reveals the driver was not at fault.  It is illegal to ride a skateboard in the road, unless crossing at a crosswalk.
