MADISON (WKOW) -- Approximately 66 employees at one of Madison's Shopko locations will be laid off because the store is closing.
According to a letter released by Shopko's CEO, the location at 2602 Shopko Drive will begin displacements on July 27. Some employees will be needed to help close down the facility so lay-offs could continue through August 30.
Under state law, employers employing 50 or more individuals in the state are required to give 60 days notice before a mass layoff or closing.
Shopko has two other locations in Madison. One is at 7401 Mineral Point Rd., and the other is at 2201 Zeier Rd.
