Emerald Ash Borer confirmed in Middleton

Posted: Updated:
MIDDLETON (WKOW) -- Middleton is the latest southern Wisconsin city to confirm what was suspected: emerald ash borer is killing its ash trees.

Friday, state officials added the city to the list of the bug's arrival, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.

The city says more than a quarter of the trees in Middleton were ash trees in 2009. Since then, they've been removing diseased trees and replacing them with 22 different varieties of trees not vulnerable to the emerald ash borer.
