UPDATE (WKOW) -- Stevens Point police confirm to WAOW-TV a male pilot was killed in a plane crash during the Stevens Point Airshow on Sunday.

Police say the plane was performing tricks around 12:30 p.m. when it went down near the airport runway. The 47-year-old pilot died on scene. No one else was hurt.

"It was into a wooded area, which is directly east of the airport, near the Green Circle Trail." Sergeant Tony Babl of the Stevens Point Police Department told WAOW. "From what detectives had told me, there was not, it didn't burst into flames, there wasn't a fire involved at all."

After the crash, organizers canceled the rest of the show and asked crowds to leave.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will take over the crash investigation.
