Abbrederis starts catching on in Packers WR corps

Posted: Updated:
GREEN BAY (AP) -

The rookie receivers in Green Bay are working to earn quarterback Aaron Rodgers' trust.

That process starts with offseason workouts. The opportunity is there for catches this fall after veteran James Jones left for Oakland in free agency.

The Packers drafted three receivers. Second-round pick Davante Adams missed last week's workout after attending an NFLPA rookie function.

Fifth-round pick Jared Abbrederis is already a crowd favorite. He grew up about 90 minutes west of Green Bay and went on to star in college with the Wisconsin Badgers. Abbrederis could also play a role as a returner.

Green Bay also took Jeff Janis in the seventh round out of Saginaw Valley State. All the new receivers get a chance to impress again at team workouts Tuesday.
