Waukesha girl upgraded to fair condition

Posted: Updated:
WAUKESHA (WKOW) -- The condition of the 12-year-old girl who suffered 19 stab wounds in a Waukesha park is improving.

A Waukesha Memorial Hospital spokeswoman says the girls condition has been upgraded to fair.

Waukesha police said two 12-year-old girls plotted for months on how they could kill their friend in order to impress a fictional character on the Internet named "The Slender Man."

Police Chief Russell Jack said the two girls lured their friend into some woods near Big Bend Road and stabbed her repeatedly.

"She was within a millimeter of her life," Jack said. "Was within a millimeter of one of the stab wounds striking a major artery to her heart."

The girl was left for dead in the woods and managed to crawl to a trail, where a passing bicyclist discovered her and called 911.
