Deer crashes into window of Madison business

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- A deer crashed into the window of a business on Madison's west side.

Around 5 p.m. Wednesday, Richard Kemnitz, a mechanic at Crazy Lenny's E-bikes, says someone inside the store noticed a deer running in the area of Odana Road and Research Park Boulevard. A few minutes later he heard a crash, and then saw the broken window with deer hair on the glass.

"You actually felt the crash. I mean it kind of shook the building a little bit," Kemnitz told 27 News. "We're next to a fitness center and we're kind of used to hearing little bits of crashes when they're playing with their medicine balls, but when you hear glass breaking you know it's something different."

Kemnitz says the animal took off and disappeared into the woods.

The Madison Police Department confirms it received reports about a deer running in that area, but did not have any information on the incident.

No one in the store was hurt.

Aside from the damage to the front window, Kemnitz says some bikes got scratched.
