Hulsey nomination signatures challenged by Dane Co. Democratic Party chairman

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- The chairman of the Dane County Democratic Party is challenging Democrat Brett Hulsey's run for governor.

The Wisconsin State Journal reports Mike Basford filed a complaint Thursday with the Government Accountability Board, saying he found potential problems with about 200 of Hulsey's nomination signatures. That would put Hulsey under the required 2,000 signatures needed to get his name on the November ballot.

Hulsey told the State Journal he wasn't surprised fellow Democrat Mary Burke's "Hatchet Man" was doing this.

The GAB plans to discuss challenges and certify candidates at its meeting Tuesday.
