EAU CLAIRE (WKOW) -- 20 people have been arrested after investigators believe they've broken up a major meth ring in the Eau Claire area.

The west central drug task force says Pa Xiong was the ringleader.

Our affiliate, WQOW, says this was a year-long investigation.  Chief Deputy Matt Rokus of the Eau Claire Police Department says the bust has greatly diminished the availability of meth in the area.

Authorities claim Xiong brought twenty pounds of meth into the Chippewa Valley during the investigation which comes a street value of tens of thousands of dollars.

Rokus says meth "is a highly addictive, very dangerous drug. It destroys people's lives. It leads to other criminal activity, and sometimes violent crimes."

Xiong and two others, Lang Thao and Kyrie Tetzlaff, have been indicted by a federal grand jury.
