Suspect in Canadian shooting arrested

Posted: Updated:
MONCTON, New Brunswick (AP) -- The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have arrested the suspect in the New Brunswick shooting that left three Mounties dead and two others injured.

Paul Greene, a spokesman with the RCMP, says Justin Bourque was arrested early this morning.

The 24-year-old Bourque was wanted after the shooting Wednesday evening in Moncton, with the ensuing manhunt forcing residents to spend yesterday locked down in their homes. Armed with high-powered rifles, Bourque was spotted several times yesterday but each time managed to elude authorities.

Police have not released the identities of the officers killed Wednesday night. The attack was the deadliest for the RCMP since four officers were killed by a gunman in Alberta in 2005.
