Hundreds fight in brawl in Green Bay

Posted: Updated:
GREEN BAY (WKOW) -- Green Bay police are furious after a huge fight involving hundreds of people in downtown Green Bay.

Police say the first call came in after 2 a.m. Sunday for a man waving a gun in a crowd.

Police say it escalated quickly and within minutes "several hundred" people in fights up and down Washington Street.

Multiple departments were called in to help including Ashwaubenon Public Safety, De Pere Police Department, and the Brown County Sheriff's Office.  They were able to contain the crowd quickly.

According to our affiliate, WBAY, three people have been arrested for disorderly conduct and weapons charges.

Executive Director of Downtown Green Bay Inc. Jeff Mirkes says, "It is clearly not a characteristic about what our downtown really represents.  I think what we all need is to expect more responsibility from patrons who come to the downtown."
