Badger football player on witness list in sex assault trial

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- A Badger football player appears on the witness list for next week's sexual assault trial of former Badger recruit Dominic Cizauskas.

A sophomore linebacker is listed as both a potential prosecution and defense witness.

Cizauskas, 19, is scheduled to stand trial on a felony, third degree sexual assault charge. Authorities say Cizauskas sexually assaulted an acquaintance in her university dorm room in December.

The web site BadgerNation lists Cizauskas as having made his official, recruiting visit to UW, on the same weekend authorities say the crime occurred. In an interview with a web site reporter, Cizauskas said the Badger linebacker was his host for the visit.

A criminal complaint states Cizauskas told the victim he had consumed ten liquor shots before arriving at her campus room.

Cizauskas, a linebacker from Mukwonago High School, verbally committed to the Badgers last year, but was not announced as part of the recruiting class announced in February. UW Athletic Department officials have said they are barred from commenting on any potential recruit.

The jury for Cizauskas' trial is scheduled to be selected Monday.
