Waukesha goes purple for stabbing victim

Posted: Updated:
WAUKESHA (WKOW) -- The Waukesha community goes purple on Tuesday to show support for a young stabbing victim.

Court documents say a 12-year old girl was stabbed 19 times by two classmates who were trying to impress an online character called slenderman.

The young victim has been released from the hospital, and family and friends asked the public to wear purple, because it's her favorite color.

Family friend Alyssa Konda says, "Everybody was showing their support to wear purple for our special little girl and to show that the community and the surrounding world, is supporting her and her healing."

The community has also donated more than $42,000 to a fundraising site set up by the family to help pay for the girl's medical and legal bills.
