Program connects incarcerated parents with their children through books

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- Once a month, volunteers from Madison-Area Urban Ministries travel to two of Wisconsin's prisons and record videos of incarcerated parents reading stories to their children.

For parents who might only see their kids once a month at visitations, the reading connections program lets them take part in an intimate, personal parenting experience they otherwise can't have.

This Sunday, the Wisconsin State Journal will feature a piece about the program that is helping to unite prisoners and their families.
