Bicyclist injured on bike trail in Madison

MADISON (WKOW) -- A 51-year-old man is recovering after flying off his bicycle early Friday morning.

According to the Madison Police report, the bicyclist suffered head injuries around 6:54 a.m. on a bike trail near Spring Harbor Drive and University Avenue. Witnesses told police the man locked up his brakes, causing him to go over his handlebars and land in the roadway.

Police say the man struck his head, but that initial information shows his injuries are not life-threatening.

The cyclist was wearing a helmet.
