MIDDLETON (WKOW) – A Wisconsin native with nearly 15 years of administrative experience was named as the new principal at Middleton High School.

According to a news release from the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District, Steve Plank has been a principal at Kenosha Bradford and Durand high schools, and has held several other administrative positions. He has been the principal at Lakes Community High School in Antioch, Ill. since 2010.

Superintendent Don Johnson called Plank an exceptional leader, saying he’ll continue Middleton High School’s tradition of academic excellence. The school was named as Wisconsin’s top high school in April by U.S. News & World Report.

“He also brings an amazing track record of building strong relationships with students, parents and faculty. He will be an incredible addition to an already strong administrative team,” Johnson said in the news release.

Plank received his bachelor’s degree from UW-Whitewater in 1996; his master’s degree from UW-Milwaukee in 1999; and his doctorate from Loyola University Chicago in 2014.

There were 27 candidates who applied for the position. Plank plans begin in early July.
