JANESVILLE (WKOW) – A fire caused by a fire pit damaged a home and vehicles early Sunday morning.

According to the Janesville Fire Department, officials responded to the reported fire at 3773 Ridge Dr. at 2:13 a.m. When they arrived, flames and smoke were showing at the single-story residence. All of the occupants were out of the home except for a cat and dog; the dog lived, but the cat was later found dead.

There were no reported injuries. However, two vehicles in the garage and a shed close to the home suffered damage. The initial investigation showed the fire was caused by a fire pit next to a deck extending from the home
