UPDATE: Companies working on power outages in area

UPDATE (WKOW) -- Power companies worked throughout the morning to get as many of its customers as possible back online.

As of 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Alliant Energy is reporting about 4,300 of its customers are still without power. MGE, Madison Gas & Electric, says it still has about 1,900 customers without electricity.

UPDATE (WKOW) -- As 5:30 Tuesday morning, Madison Gas and Electric (MGE) has reports of 40 separate outings, affecting more than 3,400 customers. The areas with the most damage include the West Towne area, the Schroeder Rd. area, and the Isthmus area. MGE say they are assembling crews and beginning to assess damage.

Customers that have not reported power loss are advised to call (608)-252-7111

To report down power lines, call (608) 252-1111. MGE reminds people to never approach a downed power line or anything that comes in contact with it. Always presume lines are energized and extremely dangerous.

MADISON (WKOW) -- Thousands of people are without power after strong storms blew through southern Wisconsin.

Madison Gas and Electric (MGE) reports more than 3,000 people don't have electricity. You can see MGE's reported outages by CLICKING HERE.

As of 1:30 a.m., Alliant Energy reports it has more than 16,000 people without power in its South, North Central and Northeast regions, which cover from southwest Grant County all the way up to Menominee County. To view Alliant Energy's outages, CLICK HERE.
