TOWN OF BURKE (WKOW) -- A 53-year-old DeForest man remains in critical condition following an accident with a semi Thursday night.

The Dane County Sheriff's Office says he was driving a minivan when he crashed into the underside of a semi tractor trailer at Metro Drive and U.S. Highway 51 in the Town of Burke around 9:30 p.m.

The driver of the semi, Daniel Doolittle, 55 of East Leroy, Michigan, was exiting the parking lot of a truck stop when the minivan hit the trailer at a high rate of speed. The sheriff's office says alcohol also appears to be a factor in the crash.

The sheriff's office says it considers the driver of the minivan to be at fault, but will not release his name due to the seriousness of his injuries. The crash is still under investigation.
