Walker campaign releases new ad in race for governor

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- The campaign of Republican Gov. Scott Walker launched a new ad Friday targeting his Democratic challenger Mary Burke.

The ad was released less than 24 hours after a judge ordered the release of documents in an ongoing lawsuit by Wisconsin Club for Growth challenging a John Doe investigation into potentially illegal coordination between conservative political groups and the recall campaigns of Governor Walker and other Republican candidates in 2011 and 2012.

In the documents released, prosecutors accuse Walker of being at the center of a criminal fundraising scheme.

Walker's 30-second ad released Friday is titled "Bad Hand" and is running statewide.

The liberal group One Wisconsin Now says Walker is spending nearly $250,000 on the spot, which blasts Burke's record as state Commerce secretary under Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle.

Burke spokesman Joe Zepecki says it's no surprise Walker is hitting the airwaves to attack Burke "with his campaign under siege."
