TOWN OF BROOKLYN (WKOW) – A Town of Brooklyn man was arrested for his first offense of driving drunk after a crash early Saturday morning.
According to the Green County Sheriff’s Department, emergency personnel responded to a one-vehicle crash on State Highway 92 west of Legler Road at 5:51 a.m. Further investigation showed that the driver, Blake E. Weber, 23, was driving west on the highway when he lost control over a crest of a hill and went into the ditch. Weber over corrected and caused the vehicle to slide into a driveway embankment, causing the vehicle to turn over.
Officials say Weber then fled the crash with his dog. Sheriff’s deputies and Oregon police found Weber at his residence. He was later taken to the hospital for injuries from the crash. Weber was wearing his seat belt. The dog wasn’t injured in the crash.
Weber was arrested for first offense operating under the influence. He was also cited for operating left of center, failing to maintain control of a vehicle and failing to notify law enforcement of a crash. Officials released Weber pending court.
