Man rescued after kayak tipped in Kinnickinnic River

TOWN OF CLIFTON (WKOW) -- Authorities in northwestern Wisconsin say a young man from River Falls is lucky to be alive after his kayak tipped into a rushing river.

The Pierce County Sheriff's Department says a 22-year-old man's kayak tipped in the Kinnickinnicriver Saturday night and he hadn't resurfaced. According to our affiliate, WQOW, authorities started a search for him and found him an hour later when he walked out of a cornfield.

The sheriff's department says he was not wearing a life vest.  His kayak is still missing.  They also say because of all the rain, the water is much higher than normal.  You should use extreme caution if you do venture out on the water, and remember to always wear a life jacket.
