Madison Street Team ready to keep city clean

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- Some local teens are doing their part to clean up Madison this summer.

The Madison street team is working to tackle some of Madison's biggest trash problems, including the August student move, trash on local bike paths, and litter and graffiti in city parks.

Officials say this is a real learning experience for the students to gain employment skills and knowledge of job expectations.

Hugh Wing, Director of the Youth Job Center, part of the Youth Services of Southern Wisconsin says, "Really what I want is to create a safe place for young people to have a great experience, so we work through their mistakes, we work through the issues to build on success after success, build some self-confidence and go on and have a great summer."

This is the 23rd summer the Madison Street Team will help keep the city clean.
