Homicide charge in crash that killed passenger

Posted: Updated:

MADISON (AP) -- A drunken driving homicide charge has been filed against the driver who crashed into a tree in Dane County and killed his passenger.

22-year-old Kurt Laufenberg of Dane has been released from jail on a $5,000 bond.  A criminal complaint says in June, Laufenberg was speeding before crashing his car in the Town of Berry.  22-year-old Dylan Lindeman from Middleton was killed.

The State Journal reports the complaint says Laufenberg told investigators at the hospital that he drank six beers in three hours before getting behind the wheel that night.
