MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison's newest park is now open for all to enjoy.

Central park, on South Ingersoll Street, had it's grand opening on Wednesday.

The park has lighted pathways, seating areas, and a restroom facility with a green roof of low growing plants. It also features a great lawn with staging area, that city officials say will be perfect for festivals.

"It's going to be used by so many different people," Madison Alder Marsha Rummel (Madison District 6). "It'll be you know from large events to small, hanging out with your friends and taking a walk. I think it'll add, help revitalize the capital east district, which we have been working on in a parallel fashion for so many years."

Central park will also be the home of Madison's first skate park.
