Possible tornado touch down in Green County

Posted: Updated:

GREEN COUNTY (WKOW) -- A severe storm caused minor damage in Green County on Wednesday afternoon.

Residents in the Village of Albany reported seeing a large, black wall cloud.

The National Weather Service reported that law enforcement in the area said a tornado touched down north of Albany for roughly one minute. The tornado has not been confirmed.

Tracy Stefanik said she saw the storm move in right above her family's farm property.

"We looked off to the north and saw a huge, black cloud coming over the shed," she said.

"It was pretty scary," Stefanik said.

"After that the wind started picking up, swirling, and it got really, really cold," Stefanik said.

Stefanik and others in the area also reported a brief hail storm.

The weather ripped branches off of trees, caused a minor fire on a power line and did some damage to shingles on roofs in the area.

Stefanik and her husband were grateful the storm didn't cause any damage to their home.
