Wisconsin company could change the way milk is shipped worldwide

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- Milk soon could be shipped around the world differently, thanks to a Wisconsin company.

Dairyvative Technologies, out of Markesan, received the first ever Grow Wisconsin Dairy Processor grant Thursday morning.

The company takes 95% of the water out of milk, and reduces the lactose, which allows it to be shipped anywhere in the world without the need for refrigeration.

Ben Brancel, DATCP Secretary says, "This company is striving to come up with different methodologies which are different from what we've had in the past, that should allow us to access additional markets in the world marketplace."

The company is one of seven Wisconsin dairy processors across the state that will use a portion of the $200,000 in grant money to grow their markets and position their businesses for long-term growth.
