DCHS nearing CAT-pacity, offering reduced adoption fees

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- The Dane County Humane Society needs to make room for more cats.

DCHS has reduced the adoption fees for cats, as the shelter is once again nearing maximum CAT-pacity.

Gayle Viney, Public Relations Coordinator for DCHS, says there are over 94 cats being cared for that are ready and waiting for their forever homes.

“We started out the month with an incredible adoption event, Maddie’s Pet Adoption Days, and we adopted out over 100 cats," Viney said. "But, summer months are always busy at a humane society and our cat population has quickly filled back up. We want to help all of the incoming cats that need us and we’re running out of space.”

Adoption fees for adult cats have been reduced  from $40 to $5 on Sunday, June 29 and Monday, June 30.

“The community has stepped up and helped us in the past when our population has gotten high," Viney said. "We hope there are people ready and interested in adopting a cat right now, too.”
