Couple to wed amidst Rhythm & Booms crowd

MADISON (WKOW) -- Monona Terrace may have one of the best views of Saturday night's Rhythm & Booms show. However, before organizers announced the fireworks would be downtown, one couple had already booked the rooftop.

“We planned it 18 months out, so January 1 we called at 8 a.m.,” said Bob Panger who is set to marry his college sweetheart, Jennifer Kempen, on Saturday.

Months after the couple booked the venue, Rhythm & Booms decided to relocate to downtown and now crowds in the area are expected to top 100,000.

“The hotels were a little bit of a challenge because they didn't want to rent out all the rooms but it worked out,” Jennifer said.

“There are some street closures that we're dealing with,” Bob added.

The couple says the venue has worked well with them and communicated the best ways to get around. And after the logistics were figured out, they say they got excited because they still get their rooftop wedding and a fireworks display.

“ When all is said and done, we're not going to look back at the logistics, we're gonna think we had an amazing fireworks display at our wedding,” Bob said.

The ceremony and cocktail hour will be up on the roof. The reception then moves downstairs and Monona Terrace workers have about 30 minutes to convert the rooftop in to the Rhythm & Booms viewing party.

Jennifer and Bob say though they won't have the roof for the fireworks, they should have a great view from the community terrace room.
