Dead body found in Yahara River

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- Dane County Sheriff's deputies recovered the body an adult male found by fishermen in the Yahara River early Saturday morning.

One of the fishermen called 911 after finding the body just after 3:00 a.m. near Squaw Bay, which is on the southeast side of Lake Monona.

The Dane County Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy on the body and sheriff's officials say the death does not appear to be suspicious at this time.

But the sheriff's office would like to hear from anyone who may have seen a man walking near the Yahara River between 7:00 p.m. Friday and 3:00 a.m. Saturday and anyone who finds missing clothing on the shoreline, including black athletic shorts, a gray t-shirt or black flip-flops.

You can reach the Dane County Sheriff's officer in-charge at (608) 284-6155.
