Russell Wilson returns to Wisconsin

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- It's amazing to see how far Russell Wilson has come in just three years. It was July 1, 2011 when the former NC State quarterback first stepped foot on UW's campus, but since then he's led the Badgers to the Rose Bowl and won four NFC playoff games with the Seahawks, including the Super Bowl.

Wilson was back in Madison for his annual Russell Wilson Passing Academy on Saturday, which teaches kids the fundamentals of football. Former Badgers Nick Toon, Jacob Pedersen and Dezmen Southward were some of the guests who helped Wilson run the camp. Madison is one of eight stops Wilson's camp makes this summer.

The former Badger QB was excited to once again see his Badger supporters.

"It's a blessing to be back here," Wilson said. "I know the Wisconsin fans are pumped up and I'm pumped up to see them. You know the biggest thing we want the kids to get out of the Russell Wilson Passing Academy, we want fundamentals. We want the kids to be engaged and teach them to love and be passionate about the game of football. That's one of the best things this school, the University of Wisconsin showed me. The fundamentals, the passion for the game everyone has, so it's going to be exciting."
