UW Hospital emergency department wins prestigious Lantern Award

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- The University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics emergency department is one of only 17 recipients this year of the Lantern Award, prestigious award from the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA).

The Lantern Award recognizes emergency departments demonstrating exceptional and innovative approaches to leadership, practice, education, advocacy and research.

This is the second such award for the UW Hospital emergency department, with the first being in 2011. Only 37 emergency departments have received the Lantern Award since 2011.

“This award acknowledges the world-class health care provided by our outstanding nurses, physicians and staff,” UW Hospital president and CEO Donna Katen-Bahensky said in a written statement. “Our emergency department team is truly remarkable.”
