Mayor Soglin releases statement on Rhythm & Booms

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison Mayor Paul Soglin releases a statement commending the public and event organizers of Saturday's Rhythm & Booms, saying:

Congratulations to everyone involved in making this year's Rhythm and Booms a huge success. It
was clear that many thousands of spectators were able to enjoy this first year of fireworks over Lake
Monona. Officials and board members of Madison Festivals Inc. have worked tirelessly to assure a
safe and fun event and from all reports they succeeded. They clearly deserve our thanks for tackling
this endeavor.

My thanks as well to the hundreds of volunteers involved and to City of Madison, Dane County,
Department of Natural Resources, State Patrol and numerous other public employees who assisted
with the event. Your commitment to the safety and well-being of everyone involved was evident.
