TOWN OF PELICAN (WKOW) -- Oneida County officials have many questions after finding human remains in the town of Pelican, near Rhinelander.
Our affiliate, WAOW, says a person found a human skeletal remains in a wooded area near Lake Julia on Monday.
"It's creepy, it's very creepy" says Pelican resident Debbie Beck. "We actually moved here because we wanted to feel safe."
According to Oneida County Sheriff Deputy Daniel Hess, investigators say preliminary findings show the remains belong to an adult male. Hess says there are no reported missing persons in the area, but authorities ay that it doesn't appear to be a recent death.
The investigation is ongoing. Officials say more information will be released once they complete an autopsy.
