Second Safest June on WI Roads Since WWII

 WISCONSIN (WKOW) -- Last month was the second safest month of June in terms of traffic deaths on Wisconsin roads since the end of World War II.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation says there were 49 deaths in 45 traffic crashes in June.

The safest month of June occurred in 1946 with 45 deaths, and the deadliest was in 1956 with 115 traffic deaths.

Through the first six months of 2014, a total of 215 people have died in Wisconsin traffic crashes, 11 fewer than at this time last year, and 29 fewer than the five-year average.
