MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- A man is recovering from a gunshot wound after being shot while trying to help a theft victim in Milwaukee.
The 24-year old man's roommate tells WISN-TV they heard a woman screaming for help early Sunday morning outside their apartment building around Lynn and Cass Streets.
The roommate says the woman was shouting her purse had been stolen. He says he and the other man exited the building through different doors to try to find the thief. He told the television station he discovered his roommate lying on the ground with a gunshot wound.
The roommate, who asked his identity not be revealed, says the 24-year old man underwent surgery and is expected to recover.
Police investigators continue to look for suspects.
