MADISON (WKOW) -- A 26-year-old Madison man is arrested after jumping out of a second story window in an attempt to flee police.

Madison police say they were responded to the 2200 block of Luann Lane for a welfare check when they say a man peering out his second story window.

Police say the man, William Williams then opened the window, jumped out and ran.

When he tried crossing the road he was met by a Fitchburg police squad car.

Williams grabbed the push bar on front of the car, rolled over the hood and kept on running.

He was arrested a short time later, and after being medically cleared at the hospital, was taken to jail.

Williams told police he ran because of outstanding warrants for battery, disorderly conduct and a probation violation.
