MADISON (WKOW) -- A young man in Lake Mendota called for help and a nearby angler answered the call.

The Madison Fire Department says emergency responders were called to the lake in the area of Babcock Drive around 7 p.m. Officials say a young man in the water was yelling for help and a passing angler pulled him into his boat and brought him to a nearby dock.

Paramedics determined the man didn't need medical attention. UW Police took him to the hospital for further evaluation.
